TAYLOR,
Croft Barye 1927 - 2010 Died of a heart attack in
Jacksonville, Florida on November 17, 2010 while en route to
his winter home in Nokomis, Florida.
He will be sadly missed by Elizabeth, his wife of forty-one
years. He will also be greatly missed by his children Wayne
(Cathie), Janet (Steven) and Michael (Adele), and
grandchildren Jonathon, Christopher, Brian, David, Kathleen,
Mitchell and Sarah.
Croft was born on March 27, 1927 in Quebec City. He worked
for Bell Canada and Telecom Canada for over forty years,
including positions in London, Montreal and Ottawa.
Croft was a Radio Amateur for six decades and held a number
of VE2 and VE3 calls, most recently VE3CT. He was an active
member and director of several amateur radio associations,
including the Quarter Century Wireless Association where he
served as president from 2002-2004. Croft was appointed to
both the QCWA Hall of Fame and the Canadian Amateur Radio
Hall of Fame.
Croft was also a long-time member of the Reserve Forces of
the Canadian Forces and a private family funeral will be
held at the National Military Cemetery at Beechwood
Cemetery. A memorial service will be held in Ottawa at a
later date.
