Robert J. (Bob) FUGARD

After a brief illness, at the Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital, Burlington on Wednesday, September 28, 2011, Bob Fugard of Burlington, in his 86th year. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy Fugard. Predeceased by his daughter, Beverley Ann Tanner. Survived by her husband Keith Tanner and family, son Robert (Bud) (Pam) Fugard and his family, Meagan and Makena and daughter Janice Czuba and family. Dear brother of Cyril (Martha) Fugard and Arlene (late Jack) Banner. Also lovingly remembered by his special friend Hertha Hobart. Bob was a veteran of WWII where he served with the RCAF Lancaster Squadron 433 achieving the rank of Flight Sergeant, was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 60, Burlington, a founding member and former president of the Burlington Amateur Radio Club, the director of membership of the Bomber Command Association of Canada, a member of the Air Force Association of Canada, a volunteer at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum and was awarded the Queen's Silver Jubilee Medal for service to his country. Special thanks to Dr. Adam Grzeslo, the nurses of the 6th Floor JBMH, the Occupational and Physical Therapy Departments for their kind care.

 

Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street (one block north of City Hall), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Saturday, October 1, 2011 from 12 noon until time of Legion Service at 1 p.m. Reception to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 60. Cremation to follow. Bob will make one final flypast in his beloved Lancaster before interment at Burlington Memorial Gardens. If desired, expressions of sympathy to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
